Vintage Mata Ortiz Black Pottery Olla | Manuel G. Quezada Pottery
The listing is for a Vintage Mata Ortiz Black Pottery Olla by Manuel G. Quezada. B. This black on black vessel/olla (pot) is handmade with geometric designs that vary around the pot. It comes with a metal stand.
The small town of Mata Ortiz is near the Casas Grades prehistoric ruins and has become famous for the art pottery that is produced there revitalizing the ancient motifs on their modern pieces.
Marks: signed Manuel G Quezada on the bottom.
Measurements: The olla measures approximately 6.5 inches high and is approximately 23 inches around at widest. The olla mouth is approximately 3 5/8 inches wide (lip to lip across).
Condition: The olla does have a hairline fracture that does not go into the inside-it is visible only when you zoom in to the picture or look really close at the pot-doesn't affect the overall appearance of the pot. Some light scuffs/storage marks. This is a handmade piece of pottery and has unique one-of-a-kind characteristics to it.
This is a beautiful piece of Mexican pottery.
